User Data Deletion – Marigig

If you use Marigig with Facebook Login (or other third-party sign-in), you have the right to request deletion of your data from our Platform. This page explains how we handle user data and how you can request that we delete your personal data. Marigig is operated by Marigig Sdn Bhd.

1. What Data We Hold About You

Depending on how you use Marigig, we may store:

  • Account data: email, name, password (hashed), language and region preferences, and (if you signed in via Facebook or Google) the link to your social account.
  • Seller profile data: phone number, verification documents (e.g. IC), business name, services, ads, photos, videos, portfolio, and subscription/plan history.
  • Platform activity: listings/posts you created, likes/saves, views of seller phone numbers, and related logs.
  • Subscription and billing: plan type, trial status, billing dates, payment references (we do not store full card numbers).
  • Support and communications: messages you sent to us (e.g. via contact form or email).
  • Technical and security data: device type, IP address, access logs, and similar data used for security and abuse prevention.

2. How to Request Deletion of Your Data

To request deletion of your Marigig account and associated personal data:

  1. Send an email to askmarigig@gmail.com with the subject line "User Data Deletion Request" (or similar).
  2. Include the email address associated with your Marigig account so we can identify your data.
  3. If you signed in with Facebook, you may also initiate a data deletion request from your Facebook account settings (Facebook App settings β†’ Marigig β†’ Remove). We will process such requests when we receive confirmation or a valid deletion callback from Facebook, in line with our process below.

You can also use our Contact Us form and clearly state that you want to delete your account and personal data.

3. What Happens After You Request Deletion

  • We will verify your identity (e.g. by confirming the email or account) to prevent unauthorised deletion.
  • We will process your request within 30 days (or within the timeframe required by applicable law).
  • We will delete or anonymise your personal data from our active systems, including account, profile, listings, and related records, except where we must retain data for legal, accounting, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution purposes (see Section 4).
  • Some data may remain in backups or logs for a limited period; we will not use it for other purposes and will purge it in line with our retention policy.
  • If you signed in with Facebook and we receive a valid data deletion callback from Facebook, we will treat it in accordance with this policy and Facebook’s requirements.

4. Exceptions and Data We May Retain

We may retain certain information where required or permitted by law, including:

  • Legal, tax, or regulatory obligations (e.g. financial or audit records).
  • Ongoing disputes, investigations, or chargeback or fraud prevention.
  • Anonymised or aggregated data that no longer identifies you.

Any retained data will be kept only for the period necessary and in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

5. Data Held by Third Parties

If you signed in with Facebook, Google, or another provider, that provider may still hold data about you according to their own policies. Deleting your data from Marigig does not delete your data from those services. Please refer to each provider’s privacy and data deletion instructions (e.g. Facebook Help Centre, Google Account) if you wish to remove data from them as well.
